IMPORTANT NOTICE: PHISHING SCAM

There have been reports of what is known as an E-mail Phishing scam under the guise of the City of Wheeler or as City Staff. The City will never email you requesting you to wire payment for any kind of service. 

To help you avoid phishing scams, here are some tips:

1. Be Skeptical of Unexpected Emails:
   1. Don’t click on links or download attachments from unknown senders. 
2. Check Sender Info
   1. Verify the sender's email address. Look for misspellings or unusual domain names.
3. Hover Over Links
   1. Before clicking, hover over links to see the actual URL. Ensure it’s legitimate
4. Report Suspicious Messages
   1. Report any suspicious emails to your email provider or the relevant organization

By staying alert and following these guidelines, you can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to phishing scams.
